SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There’s a lot that goes into any forecast, but this forecast is very tricky as things change from model to model run.
Tuesday was a good day to prepare for what’s to come as a winter storm will blanket the area starting Tuesday night and Wednesday. The storm will be slow to leave with snow coming to an end Friday morning.
It’s still a big question mark as to who gets what, but in southeast KELOLAND particular.
Here’s a look at two different model runs using the same forecast time, which is 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Monday’s run shows the snow line is right along I-90, with a mix of precip just south. Tuesday’s run moves it slightly north.
On to model number 2. This one has the rain and snow mix to the north, from Brookings to Worthington from Monday’s run. Now, Tuesday’s run pushes it slightly south.
While one model moves north, the next moves south. This is the thing we’re dealing with when we mention forecast models are still trying to figure things out. We’ll continue to sort out the details.
