Winter is in a holding pattern right now. No major cold snaps, no major warm ups, and no snow storms for now. It’s cruise control, but the numbers on the dash board are starting to steer us toward spring.
The first number to mention is the normal high in Pierre goes up tomorrow, from 29 to 30 degrees. A slight change, but in a warmer direction.
Sioux Falls and Aberdeen will have to wait about 10 days before the normal starts going up.
However, we don’t have to wait to see the daylight hours grow longer. We are now adding a minute and 23 seconds of light to each day in Sioux Falls. The pacing increases to two minutes a day by the 21st.
The actual weather pattern will feature quiet weather while these subtle changes are happening in the background. We have one more number to tell you. We now only 69 days until Spring, unless we go down the detour we took last year.
