Look for a quiet weather trend today in KELOLAND as temperatures moderate into the 30s and 40s in many areas. Overall, not an exciting day of weather, but for many of you, that’s a good thing!
Highs will reach 46 in Rapid City. We expect mid 30s in Pierre and mid 20s in Aberdeen. Sioux Falls will be around 32.
Tonight will not be as cold. Lows will drop into the lower teens in the northeast and 20s in many spots.
Tomorrow still looks mild for this time of year, even with areas of clouds.
Saturday will still turn cooler, but I would hardly call 20s anything frigid for mid January.
Sunday should rebound back a few degrees as mild Pacific air takes over much of the northern plains early next week.
Snow lovers will need to be patient. There are a few hints of light snow late next week, but no major storms are in the 10 day forecast. The pattern doesn’t favor heavy snow here in the northern plains for now.
The 7 day forecast doesn’t look too exciting, but it’s another week of winter that will be easy to take compared to what we could see. We are seeing more hints of colder air just after the 7 day, so watch for more on that story later today and tomorrow.
