Severe weather in the forecast for Friday

With the warm weather the past couple of days, you should know that severe weather will not be far away.

While temperatures climbed to the 70s and 80s Tuesday and Wednesday, you may have noticed an up tick in the humidity.  That’s the higher dew point temperature that’s coming in riding southerly winds.

That increase in moisture will play a role in our chances for severe weather on Friday.

On Friday, we’ll watch a low pressure system and warm front that will come in from the south.  These two features in the upper plains are notorious to be a focal point for severe storms.  It all depends on where this warm front sets up as to what area will have the highest concentration of severe weather.

The Storm Prediction Center already has a severe weather outlook for Friday.  With Nebraska being the bullseye for severe weather.

All types of severe weather will be possible including tornadoes.

It’s a good time to have our StormTracker app ready or a weather radio.  We will help you with both this Saturday in Sioux Falls at the 26th and Marion HyVee.
