Storm Center Update- Tuesday AM, April 2nd

Good Morning!

We are starting the day with leftover snow on some of the grassy areas in parts of KELOLAND.  We think that snow will melt quickly as winds increase and intervals of sunshine become part of the forecast.  The animation below shows our latest FutureScan forecast. Notice a few blips of green this afternoon.  That’s a signature of “instability” sprinkles or showers.  Don’t expect much from those, but we wanted to mention them today.  The system for tomorrow is still showing up, mainly south of I-90.  Sioux Falls may get grazed by the rain late in the day into early Thursday.

Today’s highs will reboud into the 50s with an increase in west or northwest winds.

Less wind tonight will allow temperatures to drop into the 20s.

More clouds and rain chances will keep temperatures cooler.  Again, the best chances of showers will be in Nebraska.

The weather will be warming starting on Friday.  The other thing you’ll notice is a change in the dew point, which means the air will have more humidity.  We haven’t seen numbers like this for months!

This airmass should yield scattered showers and thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday.

Here’s a look at Sunday.  The rain chances may be more organized the last half of the weekend.

The moisture chances will start to add up.  The map below shows some of the initial 10 day forecast totals.  Notice the purple south of I-90.  The reality is that rain is going to come back, so be ready for more soggy soil conditions this weekend into next week.
