The last week of January was not nice to us as record lows fell with numbers in the 20s and 30s below zero. In contrast, the first couple of days of February will be above average but don’t get used to it.
February is known for it’s wild temperature swings. We have records that go from the 40s below zero for lows to records highs in the 70s!
This month will be very active with frequent hits of cold air from the north. Our first one gets here next week! Along with the colder air, snow chances will have to be monitored. When the end of the month gets here, expect the overall temperatures to be colder than average.
With the cold around, expect a better chance for above average snow. Now, if you don’t want to believe me, we’ll see what the groundhog says tomorrow.
Here’s a thought. We’re about 47 days away from the official start of spring. Our average high that day is 45, our forecast with highs in the 40s this weekend for some in KELOLAND means we’ll have a taste of spring.
