It was a day to dry out for areas of KELOLAND that have been receiving rain. The key words are “receiving rain” as not everyone has been wet this summer.
Rain has been a common sight for many in southeast KELOLAND this summer. So much so, there are locations in their top five for wettest summers. They include Sioux Falls at their third wettest summer at just over 17.5 inches. Yankton is also on the list with its wettest summer at just under 22 inches.
But Huron hasn’t been so lucky. They’re at their 21st driest with an amount just under five and a half inches. It’s even drier than the recent very hot and dry summer of 2012 by 5 hundredths of an inch.
Think of it this way. Huron has an inch and a quarter of rain this month, it rained more than that six days this summer in Yankton!
Some will add to their summer rain total on Friday which is the last day of meteorological summer. And the forecast into next week is looking like a wet start to fall.
