Dry Conditions Continue In Western South Dakota

Sure these warm temperatures, dry and windy conditions are ideal for eastern and southeast KELOLAND where a lot of moisture has fallen over the past several weeks, but in western South Dakota it’s a different story.

While the M Hill fire was small and brief, it shows us that western South Dakota will be monitoring our dry conditions for the next several days.

Grassland fire danger may be high over the next several days as dry and warm conditions continue in western South Dakota.

In fact, the forecast map for this Sunday has high temperatures in the 80s in western South Dakota.  This will happen with low humidity and breezy conditions, a prime recipe for fire danger in the west.

So while the eastern part of the state is looking for dry weather, the western part can use some.  It doesn’t look like that will happen until next week.
