A week of warmer weather for KELOLAND

Temperatures in the 70s and 80s will dominate the weather for the next several days. These are temperatures that we haven’t experienced in KELOLAND for eight months.

The highlight of warm weather got me thinking of the last time we had highs above 70 for five consecutive days. Here’s what I found. You have to go back eight months, that’s right. Eight months, since the last time we had five days of 70-degree heat.

In fact, the first 19 days of September had highs in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. After the 19th, we only had two days of 70-degree weather in Sioux Falls.

A total of two days in October, six below our average. Only one day from November through March, one below the average. We did better in April with five days, but still one below the average. So far, we’ve had one day in May.

The whole month averages 16 days. Keep in mind, our average high in Sioux Falls is at 70 starting on Wednesday.

Enjoy the warm air while it’s here, because next week is looking cooler.
