UPDATED 11:27 a.m. ROCK VALLEY, Iowa (KELO) — The fire at the RiverView Ridge Senior Living Center has been contained by fire crews, officials tell KELOLAND News.
The fire started around 6:45 a.m., according to people who live near the center. Fire officials say the fire affected 3/4ths of the building but there were no people inside and no injuries. Some people had moved items into the building and some of those were affected by the fire. Crews from four counties helped contain the fire.
Officials also said a sprinkler system was hooked up inside the building but not completely installed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A Tuesday morning fire damaged a brand new senior living facility in Rock Valley, Iowa.
Crews have been battling a fire at RiverView Ridge Living Center. The building did not have tenants but was scheduled to open in the coming weeks.
A post on the RiverView Ridge Living Center Facebook page said “Such a beautiful building. So sad. We’ll have to start over. I hope everyone has a God given patience.”
Construction for the RiverView Ridge Senior Living Center started in Spring 2018. The home was taking applications for tenants and was set to open in a few weeks.
The project started because of senior housing study conducted by the community showed a lack of senior living options.
