SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — One person died and another was severely injured in an early morning rollover on the east side of Sioux Falls. It happened just after 3 a.m. Saturday according to the city of Sioux Falls.
A Ford Fusion was northbound on Bahnson Avenue when it lost control and rolled. Two people were in the vehicle at the time of the incident. One died at the scene and the second person sustained critical injuries.
The passenger, 16-year-old Kidus Getnet, was declared deceased on the scene. The 15-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle was stolen from the 3500 block of South Gateway Boulevard in Sioux Falls. It is unclear if the driver or the passenger had any connection to the owner.
The intersection was closed for several hours as crews worked the scene. Officials are investigating the cause of the incident.
