SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The Sioux Falls Stampede knocked off Chicago 3-2 Friday night to grab a 1-0 series lead in the Clark Cup Final.
Sioux Falls jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but Chicago would answer back with two of their own and tie the game at 2 early in the 3rd period. Then with 5:01 left in regulation, Jared Westcott found the back of the net to put the Stampede up for good. The win was the Herd’s 6th straight postseason victory, and their 6th one-goal victory of the playoffs, which is a testament to the team’s will power.
“It’s a really special group. I remember talking to a coach very early in the year in Pittsburgh, and they said your number one quality is your work ethic,” Galiardi said.
“I don’t think we really freak out if its tied in the last couple minutes. We like to stay calm, just play our game and just do the right things. Hopefully try to get a win out if it,” Westcott said.
The Stampede and Steel take the ice for game two, Sunday night. Puck drop set for 5:05.
