SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Stampede captured the Clark Cup for the third time in the franchise’s 20-year history on Friday, completing a series sweep of Chicago with a 5-1 road win in game three.
The Stampede scored the lone goal of the first period, as Anthony Romano posted a power play goal at the 17:42 mark.
Sioux Falls added to its advantage with a pair of goals in the second period. Blake Bride notched his second goal of the playoffs, while Sam Stevens netted a shorthanded goal to stretch the lead to 3-0 after two periods.
The Steel pulled their goalie with over five minutes to play and tallied a goal with 3:54 to play, but Sioux Falls scored a pair of empty-net goals in the closing minutes to secure the victory.
The Stampede close the Clark Cup playoffs 11-1, including 7-0 on their home ice.
