Sioux Falls Little League Prepares For Regional

Any kid that plays Little League baseball dreams of playing in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, home of the Little League World Series. Following its win over Fargo, Sioux Falls Little League is one step closer.

“This is super exciting. No one probably expected us to be where we’re at in our first year of Sioux Falls Little League Baseball and have the success that we did. Now all of a sudden, holy cow we’re going to Indianapolis to play on ESPN at a regional tournament, so these kids are pretty stoked to say the least,” League President Travis Eastman said.

While they’re a first year program, and they’ll be playing some of the best teams in the Midwest, Sioux Falls is anxious to prove itself.

“They are so strong, and so confident. They’re not naïve, they know they can be beat, but they are just intense and know how to win. They aren’t scared of anyone,” Head Coach Jeff Riley said.

The stakes have been raised, and the pressure has increased, but Head Coach Jeff Riley just wants his kids, to be kids.

“If you are a serious kid that loves baseball, be a serious kid that loves baseball. If you’re a humorous kid that loves baseball, be that kid. Don’t change for anything because you’ve gotten to where you’ve been right now because of the way you performed and who you are,” Head Coach Jeff Riley said.

But once that first pitch comes, coaches and parents know the nerves will be there regardless of what they preach.

“I’m sure there’s going to be some jitters in that 1st inning or so, but I’m expecting the other team to have some jitters as well. Once we settle in, our team and our players will be just fine,” Eastman said.

The team has set up a fundraising page on GoFundMe to raise $5,000
