Sioux Falls Christian Wins First-Ever Football Championship

Sioux Falls Christian claimed its first-ever football championship with a 27-12 win over Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan in the class “11B” championship game.

The Chargers opened the game with an 18-play, 79-yard drive.  Tyler Van Horssen capped the more than eight-minute drive with a 15-yard touchdown run.  Sioux Falls Christian led 12-0 at halftime on a pair of Van Horssen scores.

Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan cut the lead to 12-6 with 3:29 to play in the third quarter on one of Jamin Arend’s two touchdowns.

Sioux Falls Christian answered with a Dawson Mulder touchdown, en route to victory.

The Chargers’ Parker Nelson rushed for 253 yards and a touchdown in the win, as Sioux Falls Christian finished its season 11-1.

Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan closed its season with a record of 10-2.
