SDSU, NDSU To Play For National Title Spot

It’s a big night for SDSU football as the team gets ready to play in the FCS semifinals for the second straight season.

The team is also seeking its first-ever appearance in the National Championship game. The Jackrabbits have won six consecutive games and earned their spot in the semis with last Saturday’s 27-17 win at Kennesaw State.

After committing 10 turnovers in last year’s 51-16 semifinal loss at James Madison, SDSU will attempt to take the next step Friday at rival NDSU.

“No. 1, we didn’t play very well. We want to redeem ourselves there. No. 2, if you had been in the locker room you’d understand the impact of those senior talks. Their career ended that game, and they challenged this team to go further and we’re at that stage right now to take the next step,” SDSU head coach John Stiegelmeier said.

“Obviously excited to be in the semifinals, especially playing another rival game against the Bison.  It’ll be fun. We’re looking forward to the opportunity and hopefully we pull off a win so we can get to Frisco,” SDSU QB Taryn Christion said.

The Jackrabbits and Bison cross paths Friday at the Fargodome. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be on ESPN2.
