PGA TOUR Champions golfers Corey Pavin, Paul Goydos, Tom Pernice Jr., and Scott Verplank have officially committed to playing in the inaugural Sanford International Presented by Cambria.
Pavin, a native of Oxnard, California, has 15 career wins on the PGA TOUR, including the 1995 U.S. Open Championship. Pavin spent more than 150 weeks in the top-10 of the official World Golf Rankings from 1986-1997. He played on three Ryder Cup teams and was named PGA Player of the Year in 1991.
Goydos, who hails from Long Beach, California, has five career PGA TOUR Champions victories, including last year’s 3M Championship. Goydos won the 1996 EA Sports Golf Challenge champion and donated the $10,000 prize to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital.
Pernice Jr., who was born in Kansas City, Missouri, is a five-time winner on the PGA TOUR Champions. He finished in sixth place at this year’s Senior Open. Pernice Jr. was an All-American golfer at UCLA where his teammates included future professional golfers Jay Delsing, Pavin, Steve Pate and Duffy Waldorf.
Verplank, a native of Dallas, Texas, won five times on the PGA TOUR and was a member of two Ryder Cup teams and two Presidents Cup teams. Verplank was the recipient of the Ben Hogan Award in 2002 and the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award in 2011.
