Minnesota Vikings fans are having mixed reviews of the team’s new training camp location.
After 52 years in Mankato, the team is now hosting the preseason camp at its headquarters in Eagan. Slayton-native Alan Johnson drove up from New Mexico to watch the players with his family. He loves the new TCO Performance Center but says you could get closer to the pros in Mankato.
“When they always come out at Mankato, they had to cross the street and you could stand right on the barriers and they’d come over. This doesn’t like it’s quite as friendly for the fans to get close to the players but I think it’s still a great experience for anybody who can come out,” Kaiden said.
Johnson still says he plans on coming back in the future. Training camp ends August 16. The Vikings first preseason game is set for Aug. 11 at the Denver Broncos.
