MBK: OSU Holds On To Beat SDSU

The Jackrabbits season has come to an end in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The 5th seeded Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the 12th seeded South Dakota State 81-73.

The game was all knotted up at the end of the first half, 43-43. Early in the second half with the score still tied, OSU went on a 11-0 run to take a double-digit lead. But SDSU would not go away quietly.

Ohio State was up 70-60 with a little under five minutes to play when SDSU went on a huge run. Brandon Key and Mike Daum hit back-to-back three pointers to cut the lead to four with three minutes to play.

SDSU made a couple of key defensive stops and eventually tied the game 70-70 with under two minutes left. But Ohio State's Kam Williams hit a three pointer and also got fouled on the play. He hit the free throw to complete the four point play and give OSU a 74-70 lead.

The Buckeyes never looked back from there.

Mike Daum had a big game, he dropped in 27 points to lead the Jackrabbits in scoring. David Jenkins Jr. chipped in 16 points for SDSU.

Keita Bates-Diop had 24 points to lead the Buckeyes in scoring.

Ohio State will face 4th seeded Gonzaga on Saturday.
