I-90 Speedway prepares for opening night

Sports

HARTFORD, S.D. (KELO) – After announcing that it was reopening back in December, I-90 Speedway is putting in the finishing touches ahead of opening night this Saturday. If the weather cooperates, Saturday’s races will be the first time in three years that there’s been racing in Hartford. The track has been undergoing plenty of rennovations including installing a new set of bleachers, that come to Hartford via the Kentucky Speedway. As opening night approaches, drivers, fans and organizers are all excited for racing to finally be back in the Sioux Falls area.

“Can be close to home now. We’re only going to have to travel 15 minutes instead of an hour. It’s a track everybody loves. It’s a track that has a ton of potential to be great, and what better time than now,” Schreuers said.

“I can’t sleep at night. I can’t. I keep dreaming about opening night. All the cars in the infield and pitted out on the side. The fans being stuffed into the rafters. I just get chills every time I think about that opening night. Racing is back,” Pattison said.
