HARTFORD, S.D. - After being closed for the past three years, I-90 Speedway near Hartford is planning to reopen in 2019 under new management.
The racetrack announced on Facebook Lyle and Dawn Howey will continue to own the facility, but Rod Pattison will be the track's general manager. Races should start in May and run through September on Saturdays.
A news conference with the 2019 schedule and more information about the track is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the downtown Sioux Falls Holiday Inn City Center.
The 3/8 mile dirt track opened in 1976.
This announcement comes as Badlands Motor Speedway near Brandon is for sale. Owner Chuck Brennan posted on the speedway's website that he'll tear down the legendary racetrack if he can't sell it by December 28.
