Organizers of today’s Juneteenth celebration in Sioux Falls see their event taking on even more historical and cultural significance now that it’s an official federal holiday. Organizers of Saturday’s gathering at Terrace Park West say President Biden’s signing the holiday into law marks another milestone in the long struggle for equality. They’re hoping more people in the community will gain a better understanding of the historical significance behind our newest holiday.

As nights turns cooler next week more people might be firing up the fire pits as we gather outdoors in the evenings. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is reminding people to be careful, especially with the dry conditions in and out of town.

The 605 Summer Classic takes place today in downtown Sioux Falls. It’s a summer event celebrating all things South Dakota. The 605 Summer Classic is ramping up for it’s 12th year of events held in the parking lot of Cherapa Place.
