Could the end of Sears be here?

The Wall Street Journal reports that the struggling retailer is preparing to file for bankruptcy.

After that news, the company’s stocks plunged 37 percent on Wednesday.

This would not impact the remaining Sears locations in South Dakota, including in Spearfish, Watertown and Yankton.

That’s because the Sears Hometown stores are locally owned.

However, Sears Holdings also owns Kmart.

The retailer does still have a Rapid City location.
