SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Another multi-million dollar project could change the way downtown Sioux Falls looks.
Green Acre Real Estate is under contract to buy the Huey Apartment building along Phillips Avenue, near 8th Street.
The group plans to remodel and expand the building in a $13 million project.
It will change from low-income housing to high-end apartments, event space and retail.
The six story building will feature an event space and a custom food and beverage business on the first floor.
The top floor will have an elevated rooftop deck, along with 4,000 square feet for retail.
You'll find 62 apartments with floor to ceiling windows on all of the other floors. They'll all also have their own patios.
In order to make the renderings a reality, Green Acre would need to buy land just to the east of the building that the city owns.
The city council plans to take up the issue at its Aug. 7 meeting.
Green Acre Partner Josh Aberson says he's very excited about the location because it's a connection between downtown and uptown Sioux Falls.
