SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO)– Lashes are all the rage in the beauty industry. According to Pinterest data, searches for “lashes” were up 152-percent last year. Now, local businesses are trying to get in on the growth.
There’s not much to see just yet, but soon Amazing Lash Studio will fill the space at 69th and Western in Sioux Falls. The new business to town hopes to capitalize on the false lash craze.
“When lashes first hit the market, it was an exclusive trend. Because it was pricey and there wasn’t a lot of people that did it,” said Wichman.
Mother-daughter duo, and Amazing Lash co-owners, April Buysse and Lisa Wichman, say lash extensions are becoming more attainable. They haven’t set their prices yet, but say they will base it on the market to make sure it’s affordable in Sioux Falls.
“Super easy to get ready in the morning. It’s easy to not mess with mascara. I can go to hot yoga, go to the pool, run my kids around and look like I’m ready for the day,” said Buysse.
With private suites being built in the space, Buysse says this is more of a spa environment.
“The initial visit takes approximately two hours. Then the refill appointments take approximately one hour. So while you’re laying on the table, your eyes are closed. Most of our guests actually fall asleep,” said Buysse.
The studio will be hiring licensed cosmetologists and licensed estheticians, who are also trained by Amazing Lash Studio. These two women say opening this studio together has been a lot of work, but an exciting adventure.
“Both stay at home moms, and always wanted to do our own thing. So we’ve always kind of talked about doing our own business. When this came up with April, loving the lashes, and that it was available in Sioux Falls here, it was let’s jump in and do it,” said Wichman.
The Amazing Lash Studio at 69th and Western will open open in July or August, as long as construction stays on course. You can go to their website and sign up for notifications as construction wraps up.
