West Central Elementary students are having their own “Souper Bowl” this year.
It has nothing to do with football. Instead, kids in Humboldt and Hartford are collecting soups. From chicken noodle to tomato soup and crackers, the schools already have more than 600 items. All of the donations will be given to local food pantries. Teacher Cheryl Prunty says it’s a big event and last year’s total reflects that.
“I know we had over 1,500 items. We provide enough that the pantry uses those items over a six month period of time,” Prunty said.
The elementary schools in Humboldt and Hartford will be collecting donations through this Friday.
