USF Students Host Radio Show

News

Hosting a radio show isn’t something many people get to do. For two University of Sioux Falls, students it’s a reality. One of them we’ve introduced to you before when he was a young child, Baily Vis. He has spinal muscular atrophy. Now, Vis is a sophomore at USF.

Vis and senior Josh Gabel are getting ready for their two-hour radio show that starts every Wednesday at 11 a.m.

“Our show is called USF Nerd Bros,” Vis said. “We basically talk about from my end, a lot of pop culture stuff, like movies, superheroes, comic books, sometimes video games.”

Before the show starts, both brainstorm ideas to talk about. And then, it’s show time.

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, welcome back to the USF Nerd Bros,” Vis said.

Gabel first started out as a tutor for Vis, but their friendship grew from there.

“Just so happened to be into the same things, and he had a great idea for a radio show,” Gabel said.

They’ve been doing this since February, and they’ve discovered, they make a pretty good team.

“We just kind of over time developed this trust and understanding that we could be friends too, alongside this tutor/student relationship,” Gabel said.

As for the future of their radio show…

“I want to help Baily really launch into the next phase of this radio show,” Gabel said.

“Continue to be a fun experience,” Vis said.

Gabel graduates in December. He’s trying to find Vis a replacement so the continue can show.
