UPDATE: Wanted Man Arrested Broke Into Apartment, Raped Woman

News

UPDATE 11:05 a.m.

Authorities shared more details about 38-year-old Donald Bolan, who was arrested Thursday night.

Investigators say on January 5th, he broke into a woman’s apartment along the 7400 block of Stoney Creek Street. The victim says she woke up to find Bolan at the end of her bed.

He allegedly hit her head on the headboard and sexually assaulted her. The victim told police she did not know Bolan.

“I guess that was one of the more concerning parts of this case was that most sexual assault or rape victims have some idea — usually they’re known to each other between the suspects and the victims so this one was a little bit unusual that the victim did not know the suspect at all,” Sioux Falls Police Department Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said.

Police are trying to figure out how Bolan got into the apartment and why he attacked this woman.

We are digging into the court papers and will have more information Friday on KELOLAND News.
