The Great Plains Zoo received a special gift on Tuesday.
The T. Denny Sanford Foundation is donating $1 million for the lion exhibit project that the zoo is currently raising money to build.
The Great Plains Zoo says the lion exhibit will cost about $8 million but thanks to existing donors, the campaign only needs to raise $5 million of the total. To date, the zoo has raised more than $2.1 million dollars in new investments for the future lion exhibit.
The lion exhibit will feature a pride of up to 10 lions, including cubs every few years.
