Democratic candidate for governor Billie Sutton announced his running mate.
Sutton says businesswoman Michelle Lavallee will help him build a stronger South Dakota for all families.

“She was the best option for us, she’s a great South Dakotan, a hard worker,” Sutton said. “She’s been a change agent in a lot of the organizations that she’s been involved in and really that’s what South Dakota needs is a shake up in state government and I think she’s a great option for that.”

Lavallee is a former Republican who currently leads a strategy and marketing group in Sioux Falls. She has previously worked in marketing and strategic advancement at Raven Industries, Avera and the USD.

Sutton is running against Republican candidate for Governor Kristi Noem.
