Sunday Boredom Busters, September 24th


The 10th annual Susan G. Komen South Dakota Race for the Cure raises money to help local families coping with breast cancer.  Registration starts at 7 a.m. at Falls Park.  The mayor’s presentation is at 7:45 a.m.  Yoga follows at 8 a.m.  The Survivor-of-the-Year is announced at 8:15 a.m.  The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m.  The one mile begins at 9:20 a.m.  Awards will be handed-out at 9:45 a.m.

It’s the final day to check out the more than 60 new homes on display at the Fall Parade of Homes.  The homes are located in Sioux Falls, Brandon and Tea.  All homes are free to tour from 1-5 p.m.  

The Northern Plains Indian Art Market is celebrating its 30th anniversary as the region’s largest show featuring Native American artwork.  The market runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  Admission is $5, free for kids under 12

It’s the final performance of the Broadway musical Kinky Boots at the Washington Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls.  Show time is at 2 p.m. in the Mary W. Sommervold Hall.

St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota is celebrating its 125th anniversary with a free concert featuring the men’s choir the Chord-Ayres.  The performance is at 2 p.m. in the Palace Theatre on Luverne’s Main Street.  

Celebrate National Alpaca Farms Days during free open houses at the Triple Tree and Pair-a-dice ranches in Sheldon, IA.   The hours are from noon to 5 p.m. 

Films playing at the Wells Fargo CineDome at the Washington Pavilion include Spider Man: Homecoming,  Dream Big: Engineering Our World: An IMAX Experience, Journey to Space and Wild Africa.

New Hollywood releases playing at a theater near you include The Lego Ninjago Movie, rated PG and Kingsman: The Golden Circle, rated R.
