SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A health system in KELOLAND is in the national spotlight.
Avera Health is among the top health systems in the country, according to a new study.
IBM Watson Health has named Avera one of the top 15 health systems in the nation.
“It shows the work and dedication that goes on each day,” Avera Chief Medical and Innovation Officer Dr. David Erickson said.
The Chief Medical and Innovation Officer says it’s the first time Avera has received the honor.
“It’s based on length of stay, quality metrics, safety metrics and patient satisfaction scores,” Erickson said.
The health system estimates it serves about one million people in 85 counties.
“I think patients expect to have a safe and clean environment; they expect nutritious meals. Of course they want great care and safe care, and I think that’s recognized by this award, that is everyone who works in that area each day across Avera Health in this ministry,” Erickson said.
