Stores are hoping for a successful start to the holiday season.
How they’re approaching that is different though. Some retailers are opening earlier than ever on Thanksgiving; others will be closed for the first time in years on the holiday.
The Empire Mall is opening at 5:00 p.m on Thanksgiving.
Macy’s, along with many of the mall’s retailers, will start welcoming customers at that time.
JCPenney will open even earlier–at two in the afternoon.
While Black Friday used to be the big shopping day, the mall will actually close at 1 a.m. and then reopen at six in the morning.
This is the first time in several years the Rapid City mall will not welcome shoppers on Thanksgiving.
Instead, it will open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
While the mall will be closed, one of the stores, JCPenney, will open at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
DSW Designer Show Warehouse: Thanksgiving open from 5-10 p.m., reopens Friday at 7 a.m.
Kirkland’s: Thanksgiving open from 6 p.m.-Midnight, reopens Friday at 8 a.m.
Ross Dress for Less: Thanksgiving open from 6 p.m.-Midnight, reopens Friday at 8 a.m.
Carter’s/OshKosh: Closed on Thanksgiving, opens at 6 a.m. Friday
Hobby Lobby: Closed on Thanksgiving, opens at 8 a.m. Friday
Best Buy: Thanksgiving open 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Black Friday, reopens 8 a.m. Friday
Dollar General: Thanksgiving open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Kohl’s: Open 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, remaining open through Black Friday and until 12 a.m. on Saturday, November 24.
Target: Open 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving to 1 a.m. on Black Friday, reopen at 7 a.m. on Black Friday.
Walmart: 6 p.m. Thanksgiving
