SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Hundreds of thousands of people from around the world visit Falls Park every year.
This year those tourists will be greeted with a new cafe.
KELOLAND News has details on Stensland Family Farms’ plans for Falls Overlook Cafe.
Less than three years ago KELOLAND News took you to a dairy farm near Larchwood, Iowa where a family farm started making its own dairy products. Since then, Stensland Family Farms has grown, and now it’s growing some more.
“When we walk up to the building every day and walk in here, it’s really awesome to be here,” Stensland Enterprises President Leah Moller said.
Stensland is taking over operations of the cafe at Falls Park.
“We’re really excited to capture a lot of the different events that happen here at The Falls, like Cinco de Mayo. We should hopefully be open for that,” Moller said.
Stensland is also finalizing its menu for this new location. In addition to a dozen flavors of ice cream, there will also be other items, including locally-sourced salads, sandwiches and shareables.
“We do have beer and wine on the menu,” Moller said.
A menu that Moller hopes will help attract locals and tourists to the city’s namesake.
“I’m definitely excited to have families and kids in here, enjoying ice cream and sundaes and all of the ice cream treats that we have,” Moller said.
Stensland hopes to open the Falls Park cafe within the next few weeks.
The company is also working on another store in eastern Sioux Falls.
You can hear more details about that and the company’s future growth plans on Friday night’s Eye on KELOLAND.
