Standing Rock Man Pleads Not Guilty To Sexual Abuse Charges

News

A Standing Rock Indian Reservation man accused of having sex with a person incapable of giving consent has pleaded not guilty in federal court to sexual abuse-related charges.

Authorities allege that 18-year-old Brian Thunder Shield, of McLaughlin, had sex and attempted to have sex with two females including a minor between October and December last year.

He allegedly knew one of the females was incapable of declining to participate, and also incapable of communicating unwillingness to take part.

South Dakota U.S. Attorney Randolph Seiler says a trial date was not immediately set.
