Sioux Falls Man Arrested For Assault, Kidnapping

News

A Sioux Falls man is behind bars for allegedly forcing a woman into his car and driving off.

Police say at around 8:30 p.m. Friday, witnesses saw a man and a woman arguing outside the Walmart on South Louise Ave.

Witnesses say the man forced the woman into the car and closed the door before driving off.
Some witnesses tried to follow the car but ended up losing it.

However, other bystanders were able to give police a good description of the couple, the vehicle and part of the license plate number.

“It was just really good work. The dispatchers passed that information onto the police department and eventually we were able to find them,” Officer Sam Clemens said.

The man and woman were eventually found in the southern part of the city.

Channing Chrisopher Bartels, 25, was arrested for simple domestic assault, 2nd degree kidnapping and false imprisonment.

The 23-year-old woman didn’t have any serious injuries.
