Sioux Falls Deputy-Involved Shooting

South Dakota authorities are investigating a deputy-involved shooting on the north side of Sioux Falls.

Investigators say it started when Minnehaha County sheriff’s deputies responded to a violent domestic assault on North Cliff Avenue, north of Interstate 90.  The call came around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

The sheriff’s office says the first deputy to arrive was confronted by an armed suspect. The deputy shot the suspect, who received one gunshot wound.

Deputies provided first-aid and the suspect was taken to the hospital.

The suspect’s condition isn’t known yet.

The state Division of Criminal Investigation is taking over the investigation, which is standard procedure in deputy-involved shootings.
