To help with the construction worker shortage — the Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation is teaming up with the Harrisburg School District.
The Foundation will create the Home Builders Academy on the Harrisburg High School campus. Students will build a home as well as put in the electrical, drywall, insulation and HVAC.
“Let’s get a building out on their new campus and see if we can get some building trade programs interned in to the Harrisburg high school, not just for the Harrisburg high school students but also the surrounding area community schools,” Tom DeHaven with the Home Builders Care Foundation said.
Crews will break ground on the new Home Builders Academy this spring.
Students can enroll by this fall.
