It’s kitten season at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. That means the organization could use your help to keep the adorable animals fed.

These little guys and girls are the familiar sights and sounds of the season for staff at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

“It’s just inevitable. It’s always like this every summer,” Alma Sehovic with the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society said.

Volunteer and Marketing Coordinator Alma Sehovic says while they’re pretty cute, it takes a lot of work to take care of these kitties. It also takes quite a bit of food -something the shelter is short on.

“We’re pretty much out on Purina Cat Chow and Purina Kitten Chow, the dry food. At this point, desperately in need of Purina Kitten and Cat Chow,” Sehovic said.

The Sioux Falls Humane Society goes through about 80-pounds of cat chow a day.

If you’re willing to invest more than just food and money, you could also adopt a new furry friend.

“At this stage they’re pretty spunky. They love to play. They’re very social. Especially if you have time or you have a family that would be a good fit,” Sehovic said.

Either way, the humane society is grateful for any help this time of year.

If you’d like to donate food or money, you’re asked to drop it off at the shelter.
