Severe Weather Slams Parts Of Nebraska, Iowa

Six semi-trucks blew over during severe weather south of KELOLAND Monday night.

The storms swept in from the Nebraska line bringing high winds and quarter sized hail.

The National Weather Service reports a brief tornado in Saunders County and another twister may have touched down near Louisville.

Iowa State Patrol responded to the over turned tractor-trailers. One of the drivers was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The storms also knocked out power to more than 4,000 customers and caused flooding in some areas.

Iowa’s governor has issued a disaster proclamation for seven counties. This in response to severe weather that began Thursday in Eastern Iowa.

Heavy rains caused creeks to flood, power outages and property damage to parts of the state. The proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to help in recovery efforts.

Grants will also be made available for those hit hard by the flooding.
