Archeology Days at the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village features a kids dig, flint-knapping demonstrations, hands-on pottery-making and artifact-washing. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free. The Prehistoric Indian Village is located three minutes north of the Corn Palace on Lake Mitchell.
Boadwine Dairy near Baltic is celebrating this final day of June Dairy Month by hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can watch cows being milked, take a trolley ride around the century-old farm and enjoy lunch. Your free-will donation will go to Feeding South Dakota.
Help the town of Irene celebrate its 125th anniversary this weekend. Saturday’s events include a parade at 10 a.m., a bean bag tournament at 11 a.m., rodeo at 6 p.m., a street dance at 9 p.m. and fireworks at 10 a.m.
Check out the new Fortress of the Bears exhibit featuring four brown bear cubs at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls. The exhibit also has interactive displays including a kids’ field research station. The zoo opens at 9 a.m. The last admission is 6 p.m.
While you’re at the zoo, enjoy story time and an animal encounter during the Bookworms Reading Program. The program starts at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center.
You can fish for free at two ponds in Sioux Falls today. Family Park is hosting free fishing starting at 9 a.m. The Outdoor Campus also has free fishing as part of its Super Saturday, starting at 10 a.m.
Vendors at the Falls Park Farmer’s Market are selling fresh flowers, bread, local meats and tender greens from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday through October.
Saturday’s free Moonlight Movie at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls is Despicable Me 3. The movie starts at dusk.
