It’s still the holiday season at the Great Plains Zoo. Christmas with the Animals features the zoo animals unwrapping gifts of fruits, veggies, and Christmas trees for their winter snacks. Gift openings take place every half-hour from 1-4 p.m. The cost is a zoo admission.
While you’re at the zoo, enjoy story time and an animal encounter during the Bookworms Reading Program. The program starts at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center. The cost is a zoo admission.
Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation is hosting a Prince and Princess Skate Party. Kids ages 2-12 are invited to wear costumes and skate from 1-3 p.m. at the McKennan Park Ice Rink. All children will receive a free crown while supplies last. Admission is free and no registration is required. Skate rentals are available.
McKennan Park along with three other outdoor city ice rinks are open today. They’re located at Memorial, Sherman and Tuthill Parks. The hours are 1-8 p.m.
Siouxland Libraries are hosting programs to boost reading skills for children. Baby Storytime includes songs, stories and play time for babies and toddlers from 6-24 months. It goes from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m. at the Main Library in downtown Sioux Falls. That’s followed by Family Storytime from noon to 12:30 p.m., also at the Main Library.
This is the final weekend you can drop-off your Christmas trees for free in Sioux Falls. The drop-off sites are located at 1015 East Chambers Street and 100 Lyon Boulevard. Today’s hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday’s hours are noon to 5 p.m. Be sure to remove all decorations from your tree.
The Stampede hockey team takes on the Sioux City Musketeers at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. They’ll drop the puck at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available at the KELOLAND Box Office.
