Josiah’s Coffeehouse in downtown Sioux Falls is hoping you’ll get in the Christmas spirit of giving and help the restaurant raise thousands of dollars for a good cause. Owner Steve Hildebrand says between Thanksgiving and Christmas, you can make a donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire right at Josiah’s.
The decorations of the holiday season make Josiah’s a festive spot this time of year. And this Wednesday, Santa Claus himself will be at the cafe from 4:30-7 p.m.
“He’s going to be ready in front of the fireplace to take beautiful portraits with the kids. It’s going to be a $35 donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs. We’re taking care of all the other expenses around it. We’re also going to have treats and hot apple cider and hot chocolate,” Hildebrand said.
Hildebrand picks a local organization every year to support around Christmas. He says the Boys and Girls Clubs make a big difference for low income families in the region.
“Under the umbrella of the Boys and Girls Clubs, we serve about 1,500 kids a day. We serve newborns all the way up to Pre-K in three sites here in Sioux Falls. We have fee-based after school programs in Sioux Falls, Harrisburg and Brandon and then we have our traditional club,” Amy Sumner with the Boys and Girls Clubs said.
On top of Santa’s visit on Wednesday, you can also enter a special drawing for a Smart TV, a couple of gift cards or a lovable bear known as Believe.
“They do really important programming for our kids in the Sioux Empire and we just really want to encourage people to come down here, drop off a donation if they want,” Hildebrand said.
“Really giving kids who would not in other situations have an opportunity to have a safe place after school where they can be surrounded by caring mentors and get the quality program that we’re able to provide because of the generosity of people like Steve and Mike here at Josiah’s,” Sumner said.
Josiah’s is hoping to raise between $5-10,000 for The Boys and Girls Clubs. You can drop off a donation today through Christmas. You can also stop by on Wednesday night for a photo with Santa for a $35 donation.
