RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — A school district task force wants to build seven new Rapid City schools in ten years.

The proposal includes five new elementary schools and two new middle schools.  Most would replace outdated buildings.

The plan also includes updates and additions at several other buildings.  Before any of that can happen, the plan needs board approval.

The task force will likely present a final recommendation to the school board in June.

After that, people in the district could decide to put the $250 million bond to a vote.

What would that mean to you?  If you own a $100,000 home in Rapid City, school officials say it could cost you an additional $20 a month.
