We’re all familiar with gym memberships and shopping memberships, but a new clinic in Sioux Falls is offering a unique membership option of its own.
QuickHealth clinics may be a great fit for those who don’t have health insurance or have high deductible plans.
When you get sick, you usually go to the doctor, but not everyone has that option.
“When I go in I’m going to have to pay for the visit and then any testing, any lab work that they do… and so a lot of times I don’t know what it’s going to cost I just know that it’s going to be expensive, and so I put it off, put it off,” Laura Jacobs said.
Jacobs says she put off doctors appointments because of her high insurance deductible, but in July she signed up for the QuickHealth membership.
“With this plan I know upfront $49 dollars. I’ll have to pay the $10 dollars when I come in for the actual visit, but I know the cost upfront,” Jacobs said.
David Axtman with QuickHealth says this membership is unique to Sioux Falls.
“Someone who does not have insurance or may have a deductible that is hard to meet because they just don’t need to go in all that often, this is going to be a lower cost option for them,” Axtman said.
This plan can be used for medical issues such as common illnesses or medical exams but keep in mind this does not replace insurance.
“It’s just access to health care that you might need on a routine basis rather than surgeries or severe emergencies, things like that,” Axtman said.
Jacobs says while she does have health insurance, this plan helps her feel in control of her health care.
“Insurance controls our health care because everything is ran through insurance. This plan puts me in charge of my health care, all of a sudden I get to manage my health care and I like that feeling,” Jacobs said.
Once you sign up for a membership you must agree to a 90-day contract, with a 60-day notice if you want to get rid of it.
