SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO)– On Monday the Sioux Falls School Board will hold a public hearing on the district’s proposed 2020 budget.
Governor Kristi Noem’s education budget called for a 2.5% funding increase. But, if you factor in a .7% in one-time money from last year, Superintendent Brian Maher says the actual increase is 1.8%. That’s forcing the district to make some difficult decisions.
The $175 million plan has a few increases, including a 2.75% pay raise for teachers. However, certain programs listed under the special education budget are seeing some changes.
The public hearing is part of Monday evening’s school board meeting. It begins at 5:30 at the Instructional Planning Center.
