The Northwest Iowa town of Doon made headlines last month for not only a train derailment, but the floodwater that overtook the community.
Floodwaters that people in town say, have never been higher. In a month’s time, progress has been made, but there’s plenty of cleanup still in store.
“In this town, everything works. When we have anything that happens, everyone comes out and we have volunteers and a lot of other local communities reached out to us to help and everything, this town is amazing,” Mayor of Doon Tim Mantel said.
In Monday’s EYE on KELOLAND, Claire Lavezzorio checks up on Doon and talks to a business still dealing with floodwater and some of the town’s residents who are banding together during the tough times.
