Across the country, the game of golf is facing major challenges with fewer courses and fewer players. But as KELOLAND’s Casey Wonnenberg explains, that’s not the case in Sioux Falls.
Casey Wonnenberg: While our wintry weather may not have you thinking about golf, you’ll soon be able to play the game year round in Sioux Falls here. Sanford is building Great Shots, which will include a heated interactive driving range. The organization is also bringing a PGA Tour event, Sanford International, to the city again this year.
“Remember this event doesn’t just go across North America on the Golf Channel. It goes worldwide,” Sanford International Tournament Director Greg Conrad said.
In addition to Sanford International, The Symetra Tour has been making stops in the city for the GreatLIFE Challenge.
Because of all of the events teeing off, an area golf retailer says it’s seeing more business. Hear about the growing game of golf in the city Monday on Eye on KELOLAND at 10.
Also Monday — I’m going to be looking into how this year’s Sanford International will be different than last year’s.
