Disgraced State Lawmaker Has New Job As Police Officer

A state lawmaker who admitted to having sex with two legislative interns and resigned is now a South Dakota police officer.

Mathew Wollmann was hired by the City of Madison police department last month.  Wollmann is currently going through the police academy and will graduate in March.

Madison Chief of Police, Justin Meyer tells KELOLAND News that Wollmann was never charged with a crime and that everyone deserves a second chance.

Darwin Wollmann, Mathew's dad, retired from the Madison police force after more than 25 years of service.

Mathew Wollmann was 24 when he was elected in 2015. He admitted to having consensual sext with one legislative intern in 2015 and another in 2016.

He gave up his position in January of 2017.
