PHOTOS: Frigid Sundogs Tuesday

KELO ushare Jan 29 Sundogs Suzanne Davis_

Frigid, cold temperatures throughout KELOLAND created the perfect backdrop for sundogs on Tuesday.

Many viewers have sent in photos of sundogs they spotted outside.

Sundogs are members of the halo family. You can see sundogs low and vivid on the horizon. Sundogs can be spotted other times of the year, but they are most vivid in frigid cold air. That environment supports the right kind of ice crystals needed to make the wonderful displays.

You can see photos in the gallery below.

We want to encourage you to send us pictures of sundogs or other sights of the winter season. Email the photos to and we’ll share them on-air and online.
